Tagaro — Ancient Land

In the local dialect of Bari, Tagaro refers to the ancient dry-stone structures dotting the Itria Valley. It is a fitting name for a winery that carries three generations of the Lorusso family on its shoulders.

Puglia doesn’t whisper, it is bold and unapologetic. The sun is relentless, the sea is never far, and the land, terra rossa (iron-rich red soil over limestone), pushes grapes to an intensity that few regions can match.

Tagaro works primarily with Primitivo, high alcohol that never burns, dense fruit, and a structure that invites you to slow down. Their flagship, Fuga Primitivo, delivers black plum, blueberry, vanilla, cinnamon, and dark chocolate in layers, with silky tannins.
