A selection of grapes from different vintages from hillside plots that have always been Xavier Vignon’s favourite. Arcane le Bateleur highlights the influence of Rasteau’s terroirs on the wine: concentration, depth and generosity.
Le Bateleur reflects the generous and robust character of the Rasteau cru. A blend of different vintages has been chosen to emphasize the complex flavors.

CREATION
GRAPE: 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Carignan
TERROIR
South-facing plots, below the Ratanaud massif at an altitude of 350 meters, on clay-limestone soils.
WINEMAKING
Different vinification method according to grape variety and vintage. Traditional vinification for some, very long maceration for others.
AGEING
Some of the Syrah is aged in truncated wooden tank (24 months), the Mourvèdre in concrete vats and the Carignan in Wine Globe.
TASTING NOTES
SIGHT: Purple, bright with ruby highlights.
SMELL: Aromas of blackberries and spicy plums, black olives and liquorice.
TASTE: Notes of sweet spices, long finish with silky tannins.
